…when this guy jumps out into the street and stops me.
I think he said ‘I saw you on the news the other night’, (I sort of was startled that he came running out to talk to me) and I said ‘Cool’! and we have a 5 minute conversation about barefoot running and Vff’s. I was wearing the 5’s as the roads were 50%+ gravel and random stones. I am pretty sure thats what he said. Why else would he jump out and stop me?
It was the first ALL 5’s run I have done. The rest of the mileage I have in them were part runs where I took them off with a couple k’s to go so I could run barefoot and still get my mileage in.
Now, this sort of impressed me that the guy seemed to recognize me, because that has never happened before. The other cool part is, the tiny little town I am running is, is in the middle of nowhere, an hour from Calgary AND this guy isn’t even from Rosebud OR Calgary! Gold star!
That’s it. We have some rockets to launch tomorrow,
We have to assemble some meat and potatoes to cook in tinfoil over the fire and then we have a couple s’mores to make,
Then on Sunday its 13 more laps around Rosebud. I wonder who I’ll run into then.
- Barefoot mileage since June 29th : 100km
- VFF mileage since July 7th : 17.8km
- Shoe mileage since SOBF (start of barefoot): 5km (25:30 5k race PR on July 1st)
running product makers , it’s only going to get better!! Please sponsor me! Do you hear me Rosebud Alberta! I am in your town! I’ll have my people call your people!
sweet!! You are famous! Love that camper, looks fun!
ReplyDeleteright out of National Geographic. Smore's: it doesn't get any better than this!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to mention your blog - fame is a good traffic generator.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason to wear vffs every once in a while - you're going to be wearing them in the winter. Better to learn how to run in them now.
Yikes...never thought of that!! Are VFFs what barefoot runners use in winter?
ReplyDeleteSuperstar! Yup, that would be you :)
Wow a "totally famous" person commented on my blog! Thanks. Those look like serious rockets. Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteCool rockets Neal :) Neal, I'm a member of the Barefoot Runners Society (www.barefootrunners.org) I think you might find some kindred spirits there. Or at least some goofy barefoot runners! Membership is by invitation only, so if you would like an invite, drop me an email to mikerives(at)gmail(dot)com. Take care and good running!
ReplyDeleteAngie: We do love our camper. The boy crys everytime we head for home at the end of a camping trip. And my son crys too!
ReplyDeleteAndrew: I'm nit sure NG had a 26' travel trailer in mind tho... but the location is worthy!
Josh: I am having cards printed. I do walk everywhere in my 5's, so I am pretty used to them. I did find it easier to get off form, especailly grinding uphill.
Anne! aren't you on vacation? Hows the knee? I will sure try to use the VFF's in winter. or mukluks.
Adrienne: Congrats on you getting a comment from me. Your hard work and perserverance has finally paid off!! HAH...
Mike: for some reason I think I belong already. I will check and email you either way. Thanks!
