Calgary Halloween Howl, Race report…

The results are: It doesn’t matter. It was a fun run with friends!

Firstly, only 3 days left in my GU for Canada contest!

Traci was supposed to race the 3k with Andrew, but she woke up quite sick with a cold this morning, so Poppop filled in on short notice! Andrew and I picked up Poppop at his house at about 8:30 which was about 30 minutes behind schedule. (Did I ever tell you I love racing? I do, AND I love all the stuff surrounding racing especially the hour before the race). Turns out the race was scheduled to start at 10am, not 9:30 like every thing I read said, but whatevs. He is wearing his bondi-band that has a picture of a big wheel, and says “Ride it like you stole it!” haha!

So we had plenty of time for chit chat with everyone. Andrew and Poppop had a nice time hanging out and getting ready for the race by eating a bag of Sun Chips and drinking a bottle of chocolate juice (as he puts it). After I finished my run, I asked him for his race report.

Andrew: It was FUN

Poppop: he only had to stop and pee in the bush once in the 3k!

Success!

Not a whole lot to tell about my race. I registered for it yesterday, and planned on running with a friend! It turned out to be a pleasant morning, so Barefoot I was, and that just makes me happy these days. Here is vid that Erin kindly took of me running. I think the form looks ok? don’t you think?

Ok, as you can see on the vid, I got myself some CEP Compression sleeves. I bought them (very expensive) and I like them! I have been getting little calf twinges lately, but I didn’t have any today. I was running slower than normal, so maybe the real test will come in the Last Chance Half in Nov.

I will let the photos tell the rest of the story!

Daren ran today, Joanne was sick…

Erin and Tracy, 80’s runner style… it was a popular costume. Erin looks a little gangsta!

Over the head and backwards shot… note the girl closest to the camera.

See her there? everyone's a prankster, best (whatever the word is when someone jumps into someone else's picture) PhotoBomb ever for me! … At least Erin looks happy on this one. And look, your side pony tail! Me thinks I'll be seeing a new facebook profile picture, hey Erin? Oh yeah, and a note for Run Zoe Run, Erin is one of your biggest fans! Look for Erin B on your Facebook…

Reminds me of this from the Spring Trio.

More scenery. It still looks pretty nice even with all the leaves down, doesn’t it?

Stylin! BondiBand, Ryder Eyewear and YurBuds (which rocked!)

Favourite picture of the day!  best line of the day came from the 2 up ahead in the prison outfits. Someone said “Where are your shoes?” They said “We stole them!” haha!

These two (not sisters) were very enamoured with my bare feet. They are the ones *WoOT*ing in the video from above! (how can they not be sisters?) Even their numbers match!

And here is Tracy, 2x marathoner Tracy and super run buddy! Way to go!

Here are some pics From Run buddy Caroline! First is Erin, Caroline and Tracy, Second is Tracy, finishing strong! and the last one is Janet and Eli, along with a couple other ‘killer bees’ as they had blood all over their faces…

    2. That looks like a lot of fun! I would like to stop to take pictures of my race next week, but when you are in last place, you can't afford to stop because everybody might go home before you finish the race. It's sort of a corollary to not being able to stop to take pictures when you're in first place because you don't want to lose time because you're going to win, but in reverse.

    3. But I don't stop for these photos... They are all on the run. Point, shoot and hope for the best. There is a sports or landscape setting on most cameras, either will give good results. Don't leave it on auto, it gets confused sometimes , especially when people are in the shot....

    7. Yay for the side ponytail making an appearnace in a photo : ) I have no idea what I'm doing in that other photo, was not trying to be gangsta, but that's how it came out. A fun run for sure!
