Run it all on that day. I will. Or Cumulatively during the 2 weeks prior (starting on April 17th) and running at least 1k of it on May 1st. Report back.
I’ll get some prizes set up (times probably won’t count, so please don’t hurt yourself), so it’ll be worth it to play along.
You in? If so, comment below, and then take this tag to your blog to share the love. It can be from a real race too (or parts of real races). A Real Virtual race… if you are so inclined… Treadmill time counts…
Right click on image, save as, then post in your sidebar… Link is included back to this log already…
Oh, here is how my first Virtual Race turned out… Spectacular, IMHO…
AND, it’s International Barefoot Running Day on May 1st too!!! It’s gonna be a good day!!!
I'm in.
ReplyDeleteSure, pick a start date one day after a marathon I'm running.
ReplyDeleteHeh, Josh I'm sure you can manage a recovery km... and then call it your ultra...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm in. But you need to post a ga-zillion reminders between now and then. I have trouble remembering things that I have planned for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGazillion reminders. Check!
ReplyDeleteYES! Way to make lemonade my friend! That day I will be at the Des Moines IBIRD event and could run the whole thing throughout the day!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Count me in!
ReplyDeleteI'm in too! Running a 10K down Yonge Street in T.O. May 1, but will do the other 32.2 in lead up. This'll be fun.
ReplyDeleteI am in too... not sure I am going to manage a whole 26 miles in Vancouver on May 1st.. as you said in your blog - Life sucks, you just have to get on with it. I will manage the half in Vancouver, so at least I can get the other 13 miles in the two weeks before.
ReplyDeleteSorry I am not going to meet you in Vancouver, but I TOTALLY get where you are coming from. You need to spend the time and money on your family. That's the best decision ever!
Well I will most likely will be able to manage 42k leading up to and including May 1 so I am in. However, doing a 42k 4 weeks before my goal marathon at an easy pace, maybe about 4.5 hours, would be good if I had the time.
ReplyDeleteWhere is your proposed course. FWIW it is 11.72222 times around Cranston.
I would love to run a Marathon in Fish Creek. And I would love some company for all or some of it! Actually, what would be cool is a Loop around Glenmore, then back to Fish Creek...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunatly I am pretty limited to when I can do my long training runs, read "pretty friggin early in the morning like 6:00 a.m. at the latest". Probably not condusive to a first completion of 42k, but would have you done in time for a late breakfast.
ReplyDeleteCount me in! And in your honor, I'll try to do 26.2 over the course of the two weeks either barefoot or in my Vibrams. I should be able to safely get up to that much barefoot by then.
ReplyDeleteI'm in - I'll be doing a full monty that day in Cincy!
ReplyDeleteSounds good. Will try to join you for as long as I can keep up Speedy
ReplyDeleteCount me in, treadmill distance counts like the last V.R. right? Link is up on blog as well and tweet complete...
ReplyDeleteok really you had to say "Treadmill time counts" as if there was an option is might not?! come freaking on Neil! ;)

ReplyDeleteHave never done a virtual race, so I'm going to give this a shot. Count me in. Question do have to take pictures of our garmin to prove time or is it by us just emailing you and telling you we finished? I was looking for a good challenge.

ReplyDeleteOk! 27.13 Accomplished! Hope you had a great race today! Here is my report. http://rojrunning.blogspot.com/2011/05/i-cant-afford-actual-race-virtual.html
ReplyDeleteI would love to blog about the virtual marathon however I have a private blog due to the privacy of my family so I can't see any way around that. However I will share briefly about my last 2 weeks. Due to a 5 day girl's kick butt mountain biking trip in Moab Ut, coaching our kids baseball team, working full time nights, and training for my annual xterra triathlon, I haven't been focused on just running, let alone LONG runs the past two weeks. However, I got the job done even if it wasn't what I had envisioned. I was thinking a little faster and maybe over 3 runs.... I finished the marathon in 7 runs, a total of 27.8 miles, over 4 hours and 51 minutes. I had a blast doing it and finished up my last run today on only 3 hours of sleep. Thanks for the motivation to keep running. I hope you had a great day and your family and friend supported marathon went well for you. HAPPY RUNNNING!
ReplyDeletedone and done.

Loved the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincy! Ran it for Chase Away K9 Cancer and had to hug several dogs along the course. Took me 6:12! My mom watched me start and cross the finish line. I'll be going back to this one next year!

ReplyDeleteOn may first I did a 33 mile run barefoot and then did another 5 miles at sunset. Here's my report on what transpired
